Rose was named an official Disney Legend in 2011. Rose was an Oscar-winning actress who played Lorrell In Dreamgirls. Anika Noni Rose (born September 6 1972) is an American actress and singer. Her most notable role is as Tiana the first Disney African American princess, in The Princess and the Frog (2009). Disney Legend was bestowed upon her in the year 2011. Her other notable roles include her starring role as Lorrell Robinson on the Oscar Award-winning film Dreamgirls (2006) as well as for her role as the character of LaVerne Jukebox Ganner as part of the Starz series Power. Her name has been praised for her theatre performances, which include her lead parts on the stage in Caroline or Change (2004) on Broadway for which she received the Tony Award was won for Best actor in a musical.
